How to display pending commissions?

I've been working all day to figure out how to display the pending commissions for affiliates in the clientareahome.tpl file.

Since that file doesn't have the $pendingcommissions smarty variable, I've found it extremely difficult to do this.

I managed to get the withdrawn amounts and available balance to show on the page but can't seem to do it with pending commissions.

Has anyone figured out how to do this?
