Small 'extension' of the WHMCS Project Addon

So I've been looking for a relatively quick way to list the number of open/total projects in a user's client area, specifically within the 'Account Overview' section. It was easy enough to add the entry into the lang files, however I can not find anywhere in the module where it generates a count of open/total projects. Has anyone done this or know an easy way to get this information?
