Securing Cron.php

After racking my brain for a bit, I found a previous thread (which I'm not allowed to respond to, since it's too old).

I'm posting this in case anyone else had the same issues. My response is below.

I got the same thing over here. Took a while to figure out why I was getting random cron jobs at odd hours.

Who knows if it's actually Alexa or not. The IP address (174.129.228.67) is coming from Amazon (cloud?). I'd assume that if the server was malicious, it'd be shut down by now.

My current plan is to just rename the cron.php and hope that will fix it.

Change server setting to different user/login ?

I just got WHMCS setup and i realized that when creating a new account it's created under root ownership, and i wanted the accounts to be owned by a reseller account. I assume this is because my server-connection is using root/hash for the login info..

Is the only way to create accounts under a reseller account by using that login in the add-server settings? and if i change it from the current root/hash to the reseller account/password, will this cause any issues in WHMCS with the current accounts/information?

Hi ,
After configuring Paypal as a payment method, The payment is done but in admin area still having "Pending" or "unpaid", and in my LogWatch i have this :

406 Not Acceptable

What's exactly the problem ?

Hello,

i am having the very latest version of whmcs 5.3.6.
today when i tried to register a .com domain for a client at Reseller club, i am getting the following error

Support Department Restriction

Greeting members of WHMCS!

I am here today to present you with my first addon, a restrictive addon for support departments.

Who is this for?
This module would be ideal for users who have large companies running WHMCS or simply require more control of their system.

What does this do?
This addon allows (full) administrators to restrict other administrators from editing or deleting certain clients or products based on their support department. You can specify whether an administrator can edit or delete clients based on their client group or products in general.

This addon may be expensive, but college costs more. I'm in need of money to cover costs for college, car insurance, and the tools I used to build and license this. I'm releasing 10 promotion codes to allow users to get this at a discounted price since this is my first addon and it's in beta. You can purchase the addon for one low price of $5 and keep it when the full (official) version is released.

The addon is simple, yes, but it gets the job done for now. I released this early (beta) to have it tested out by everyone else, after I tested it countless times, and so that users who need this module can get the core aspect of it sooner. I'll modify it more in the future, patching bugs and adding more abilities to it so users can get more from it rather than just a few switches and whatnot. I know the access denied page is a little plain, but I'm not sure how else to go about it (I can't figure out how to make a message appear on a page created by WHMCS).

As for the activation, I'm using a custom PayPal module (one which doesn't require business accounts) and still need to work out some of it (hopefully soon).

Query Invoice Report - Adding Custom Field

Okay, here is my question, I go to the Reports and run the Invoices report and it lets me select a bunch of different information to run the report on based on the information.

Now, here is the issue I want to do...We have a sales team, we are going to create a custom client field called "Account Manager", this way we can note who gets credit for the sale and pay them proper commissions.

Now, I need to be able to run invoice report each month and have it query and filter based on the account managers name...so is there a way to add an option to there that we can put in the Account Managers name when running the invoice query?

Problems with Paypal Subscriptions, Adding Funds, and Invoices being sent to customers

Hello All,

I have some questions that I am hoping you all may be able to help me out with. I currently am using Paypal and have selected the "Force Subscriptions" option selected. The problem is that once a customer signs up and the invoice date comes it send him an invoice email to pay. The customer then clicked on the Paypal pay icon and pays the invoice, AND THEN the subscriptions comes through and the customer pays twice. The extra money is added under "Funds".

How can I prevent this from happening? I have hundreds of customers paying twice...

Is there any way to customize the Invoice summary page in the admin area for WHMCS?

I'm talking about the page - /admin/invoices.php?action=edit&id=xx

It has Attempt Capture, Mark Cancelled, etc. for buttons. Is there anyway to add another button here?

Editing Invoice for IT Service Business

Hi Guys,

I have some questions in regarding invoices. One aspect of our business is selling IT hardware as well as doing onsite labour for support.

I am wondering how I could do the following

- Have parts and model numbers on the invoice if selling hardware
- If I have onsite labour have the job date and description on the invoice.

Also I need to be able to add in my bank details / remittance to the bottom of the invoice.. Is this also possible?

If you know of anyway to do this or any addons please let me know. I am sure this has been done before.

Free Domain with billing cycle > 1 year

Hello,
sorry if I bring up an old (and maybe solved) issue but it's a problem for me.

I've correctly set up free domain for some TLDs in association with some hosting plans, and as time went by I realized a strange behaviour.

- if a customer adds to cart e.g. "hosting plan X" with 1 year billing, and "somedomain.com" for 1 year, then everything is as expected (cart displays hosting plan X with 1-year fee and somedomain.com for 1 year with $0 price).

- if a customer adds "hosting plan X" with 2 years billing and "somedomain.com" for 1 year, it's ok as above (cart displays, as expected, hosting plan X with 2-year fee and somedomain.com for 1 year with $0 price)

- but if a customer adds "hosting plan X" with 2 years billing and "somedomain.com" for 2 years (because he wants to have it registered for 2 years), then cart displays hosting plan X and somedomain.com for 1 year with $0 price. 2 years registration period is, in other words, ignored.

I know a possible workaround is to set up a promo code, but I can't do it because we are already using some other promo codes and you can't use more than one per cart.

Another workaround could be using product bundle but often it doesn't work properly, plus I should setup n*m bundles where n is number of TLDs and m is number of products I want to apply the free domain to.

final note: I'm using WHMCS 5.2.17, maybe has this already been solved in 5.3.x?

MORE WorldPay Invisible XML 3DSecure issues

Hello all,

Today was the day that our WorldPay Invisible XML payment system was going live.....sadly this has now had to be delayed due to an issue....a weird issue at that!

We are receiving declined transactions from only some live tests. Any cards that require 3DSecure actually work fine, whereas any cards that usually bypass the 3DSecure (such as Halifax debit cards) all decline.

So, just to confirm, a NatWest Visa Debit which usually asks for the 3DSecure numbers completes the transactions fine, however a Halifax Visa Debit that usually does not require the input of the 3DSecure gets declined.

I have searched the forum and found this thread. However this seems to state that only cards that require the 3DSecure get declined....which is the opposite to my issue....saying that though, the error message within WHMCS is identical:

<error code="2"><![CDATA[Attribute value "" of type NMTOKEN must be a name token.]]></error>

I have created a support ticket but as we run the latest WHMCS version (5.3.6) I would have thought they would have included the latest worldpayinvisiblexml.php file within the gateways folder.

Any one got any ideas on this one?

Adding a product with configurable options through the Internal API

Hello, I'm working on a module and need to create a new product either on or around the time of activation. This product needs to have some configurable options associated with it. The problem I'm having is that the API documentation only says that you can specify configoption1, configoption2, etc. It doesn't actually give what the proper syntax is for specifying these things. If anyone has any idea what the proper array structure for this would be, it would be a huge help. Thanks!

Currently we go to Reports-->More-->Direct Debit Processing
When they go and debit the client.

I'd like to know if there is a plugin or feature or even an existing option to email a notification when a debit order is required to be processed rather than going through the above procedure?

Lately our installation of WordPress seems to be misbehaving with regards to HTTPS/SSL so we've been trying to understand why some pages are redirected to the unencrypted site (i.e., In some instances, vistors are redirected from https://www.rocket-powered.com to http://www.rocket-powered.com) and others are not.

While investigating this, we discovered that some WHMCS pages are redirected from https://www.rocket-powered.com/whmcs/foo.php to http://www.rocket-powered.com/whmcs/foo.php) and others are not. e.g.,

These scripts redirect from HTTPS to HTTP...

  • /whmcs/index.php
  • /whmcs/knowledgebase.php

...and these scripts do not redirect from HTTPS to HTTP...

  • /whmcs/domainchecker.php
  • /whmcs/clientarea.php

...so we started using openssl to determine what's really going on:

Hostname error

When ordering a VPS the Hostname: box requires a FQDN. If someone puts in just a hostname it won't auto provision the order stating it is a invalid hostname, and i have to change it and approve the order manually. Is there a way to deny this from going through the order process in the first place and forcing the customer to enter in a FQDN?

Also, i'm not offering any domain registrations but on the same order screen I can't find a option to remove NS1 Prefix: and NS2 Prefix:
